As a service industry company our people make us who we are. We strive not only to provide the best qualified Security Officers, but also the best fit for your specific needs. Each guard we hire goes through an extensive screening and hiring process which adheres to The New York State Security Guard Act
protocols (fingerprint background check, 8 hour pre-assignment training and 16 hour on the job training course). Amherst Security Professionals goes above and beyond these state requirements and conduct our own independent background screening along with a fifty (50) state sex offender registry check, a two-step interview process, drug testing (NYS DOT screening for nine substances) and a name to social security number match check.
In addition to the state mandated training our Security Officers are offered many other courses, specific to the job they will be working. Some of these training courses include, but not limited to: De-Escalation Tactics for Security Officers (Amherst Security development program taught by NYS certified MS Licensed Mental Health Counselors), CPR/AED Training and Report Writing Skills. One of the biggest complaints we hear about other agencies fail to maintain consistency in guards. We spend the time to carefully place the right person for the right job and train them appropriately and thus eliminating the "revolving door effect".
